The power of prayer is real. Every time we speak to God, our words travel to him and he answers us. These answers may not be clear, but know that He is listening and providing you with the opportunity for growth. As we see in Psalm 18:6, “The Lord God Almighty hears the prayers of His children. He commands us to pray, and He promises to listen when we do. ‘In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.” Prayer is our direct line to God; we do not have the power of prayer, only He possesses that power.
Your first guideline in prayer is to understand that you should approach God with legitimate desires. You should be asking Him for fulfillment as a son, and pray intimately. Sometimes, when we pray we think that it becomes beggary, but as children of God, we are entitled to a divine inheritance. There exists a sacred connection between our souls and God; a prayer is a loving request extended to Him. Your prayers will not become more special because of your choice of words, or your posture. The power of your power will not increase if you face a certain direction, or if you use artifacts, icons or beads. The power of your prayer will be decided by Him; He will hear them, and He will answer them, of this you can be sure.
Your power of your prayers can also be extended to others. If you see someone in need of His power and love, pray for them. When you extend this prayer, pray for them fervently, and confidently. Commit yourself to their pleas, do not let doubt or hesitation enter your prayers. God will hear your prayers, and He will answer them when the time is right. God is loving and you should trust Him to answer your needs. As the Bible tells us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God (Philippians 4:6 ESV).” God is here to help you, and He will provide the answers and His love.
